Look at all of these beautiful tapes from japan!

Do you love crafting? or Japanese Stationery? If so, you’ve probably seen these colorful tapes called “MT tape” ( Masking Tape)
Check out “MT-haku 2011″ ( MT expo 2011) , held in Harajyuku last year! How Kawaii!

They are fun and super cute. KAWAII! There are so many kinds and many many recipes // how to use them. There’s always new one released every month + many seasonal limited editions.
Japanese Craft books are all about MT tapes and the ideas of how-to! the possibilities are endless… When i was in japan last month, I couldn’t help getting a couple… or more (!) at MT stores in tokyo. I got total 9 of them. yay!
They are inexpensive { 200-300 yen each }  and fun to have, collect for sure! Handmade stationery is the best. Perfect way to write a letter to your pals and family. Might as well make it pretty and have fun with it, right?
Happy crafting!

ONE PIECE exhibition { one piece-ten } will be held for 3 months in Roppongi hills, Tokyo. Starts from March 20th at Mori Arts Center Gallery.

Oooooooh Oda Eiichiro Sensei! I just can’t wait to go! The thing is I was there a month ago but I had no clue they were building the giant ship inside of roppongi hills tower.. what a surprise!
A nationwide hit, there have been many ‘one piece’- related exhibitions in the past, but this latest one builds on past experience to present fasn with the ultimate exhibition, TIN says.
From March 20th, 2012 to June 17th, 2012 Mari Arts Canter Gallery, Roppongi Hills , Tokyo. 2000 yen to get in for an adult.
The exhibition, which marks the 15th year since the manga was first published, was creadted under the supervision of the priginal creater, Eiichiro Oda himself —- guaranteeing that the world of ONE PIECE is accurately and uncompromisingly displayed. It’s also one of the largest , ever, with the exhibition spanning the entire 52th floor of Roppongi hills. (TIN)
How cool that is!
More than just an art fallery, an attraction, or a screening event, the exhibition employs different methods to communicate the element of fun that made “ONE PIECE” the massice hit that it is. There are LIFE SIZED FIGURES of MUGIWARA NO ICHIMI! You dont wanna miss that.
A little bit about Mori Tower…
The Mori Tower is a 54-story high-rise building housing an art museum, a cinema complex, restaurants, cafes, stores, the offices of Ferrari Japan, Goldman Sachs, Lehman Brothers, TV Asahi, J-WAVE, Konami, Rakuten, Livedoor, Yahoo! Japan, and the Grand Hyatt Tokyo. The first six levels of Mori Tower contain retail stores and restaurants. The top six floors house the Mori Art Museum and the Tokyo City View with panoramic views of the city.
You’ll enjoy the most amazing view of Tokyo. Night + Day! It’s worth going up there twice. I had a blast drinking yummy beers at the bar:) and looking down TOKYO from 250M HIGH!!

KFC, SANTA CLAUS, AND CHRISTMAS: AN OUTSIDER’S PERSPECTIVE
Posted by ADRIAN G. in CULTURE, ENTERTAINMENT and tagged CHRISTMAS,COLONEL SANDERS, JAPANESE CULTURE, KFC. | 11.30.11

The Christmas holiday can be a very different experience depending on where you celebrate it, and few have to adapt their plans more than foreign parents who reside in Japan.
Louise George Kittaka is one such foreign parent inside Japan, and she described her situation in great detail in a piece called “What do you do when the kids think Colonel Sanders is Santa?” In the piece, she discusses her position as someone who has to take into consideration the specific cultural expectations and traditions that are typical in the country. For example, as she says in the piece, my youngest daughter used to be convinced that Santa moonlighted as Colonel Sanders, or “Kentucky Ojiisan” as kids call him. She’d seen the statue of the Colonel decked out in a Santa suit outside our local KFC and come up with her own explanation. “Santa cooks chicken for everyone at Christmas,” she declared.
Read the rest of the piece for more of her insight.
When considering people living outside of the countries they grew up in during their childhood, the experience of a “holiday” in a substantially different society can vary greatly from what the person experienced as a child, and Kittaka’s piece does a good job explaining the specific situation faced by her and, in turn, other non-Japanese individuals living in and continually adapting to Japanese customs.
To some of us (those of us in the United States), associating Christmas with Kentucky Fried Chicken is extremely strange, but apparently it’s quite a big deal over there, and is a solid example of the many differences between the holiday season in the US and the holiday season in Japan.

TOY POODLES BECOMING JAPANESE POLICE DOGS…?
Posted by ADRIAN G. in CULTURE and tagged DOGS, POLICE FORCE, POODLES. | 11.30.11

Fierce, aren’t they?

When you think of a “police dog”, you probably visualize a big, snarly German Shepherd, right?
Chances are you don’t envision a little toy poodle, but apparently the force at Tottori Prefecture Police is taking on two of them to man the streets as vicious attack dogs.
Okay, maybe they won’t be chasing down thieves and intimidating suspects; rather, they will be sent out to search for missing hikers.
A spokesman for the force had this to say in defense of acquiring the miniature dogs for duty: “Their trainers thought the dogs had keen senses and responded exceptionally well to commands”, so it will be interesting to see if they’re capable as police force canines.
